In addition, we will investigate texture with cutters, stamps, and stencils to build a collection of shapes into a finished piece. Discover the ways to use your slab in other creations such as earrings, beads, mixed media elements.

No Blank Canvas: Mixed-Media Workshop with Isaac Grigar

April 25, 2026 | 10AM-1PM

June 6, 2026 | 2-5PM

Join San Antonio-based artist Isaac Grigar for a hands-on mixed-media workshop exploring personal and regional history through art. In this class, participants will create their own layered artwork using acrylic painting, collage, and image transfer techniques.

Students will bring printed images that hold personal meaning—such as family photos, places, or cultural references—and use them to build a composition on canvas. Through guided instruction, Isaac will walk participants through combining paint, drawing, and collage elements to create a piece that reflects memory, storytelling, and sense of place.

This workshop is part of the No Blank Canvas project in collaboration with the Patrick Heath Public Library’s Memory Lab, highlighting under-told stories from the Texas Hill Country.

Exhibit Opportunity:

Participants in the April 25 workshop will have the opportunity to have their finished work included in the upcoming No Blank Canvas exhibition at the Patrick Heath Public Library.

All skill levels are welcome. Students are responsible for bringing their own materials
