Cole Cote, a senior at Texas State University in San Marcos from Bulverde, has won the “Singing with the Broadway Stars” competition, along with two Boerne teenagers and one teen from Houston who have been selected as runners-up in the competition.

Cote and the three runners-up have been invited to sing on stage with the performers of Neil Berg’s 101 YEARS OF BROADWAY playing two shows: Thursday, February 17th and Friday, February 18th at Boerne Champion HS Auditorium.  Cote will be singing a solo in the evening’s performance prior to joining the other three finalists for one musical selection in this gala concert.

The students auditioned by uploading 90 to 120 second videos of themselves singing their own Broadway favorites through various social networking websites. Each winner will receive a pair of tickets to the show for family or friends, a CD of the show, and the opportunity of a lifetime…singing on a professional stage in front of over 1,000 patrons with five of Broadway’s finest voices.

Boerne Champion HS Students Loren Franke and Amanda Price were both selected as Runners-up in the competition. Both students were recently seen on stage in the Champion High School Musical production of “Les Miserables”.

Loren is actively involved in BCHS Choir, Chamber Choir, Boerne Buddies, National Honor Society, Ambassador’s Club and the Spanish Club.  Amanda participates in BCHS Choir, Theater and Academic Decathlon.

"These two talented students are a joy to work with!”, commented BCHS teachers Wanetta Hill (Choir) and Beth Tilton (Drama).   “This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase the talents of our students alongside professional artists from New York City!” Sean Hardin, from Sugar Land, Texas, is the third Runner-up and he will travel from the Houston area to perform at the Friday evening performance only.  Sean attends George Ranch High School in the Lamar Independent Consolidated School District and is actively involved in choir and musical theatre.

Neil Berg’s 101 YEARS OF BROADWAY concert features Broadway stars of Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables, Jekyll and Hyde, Fiddler on The Roof, Wonderful Town, Tarzan, Cats, The Woman in White, It Ain't Nothin' But the Blues singing the finest hits songs of the last 101 Years of Broadway musicals.
