About Janet Seibert

Janet Seibert comes to us from the city of Austin's Economic Growth and Redevelopment Office, where she is responsible for the Create Austin Cultural Master Plan and the Professional Development Program for Artists.

She was one of the original authors of both the Austin Art in Public Places Ordinance & Guidelines (1985) and the Downtown Austin Design Guidelines (1999). As a Terminal Task Force member (1994) she helped define the Austin character for Austin's new airport, and then implemented
strategies as City staff.  In 2002 she was the City point person partnering with Texas Commission on the Arts to facilitate a community-wide civic dialogue on art, artists, and the urban environment. As one of the primary staff
to the 2003 Mayor's Task Force on the Economy, she helped identify recommendations to further develop Austin's creative economy. In 2005 she conceived and managed the production of the AUSTIN ARTS BOOK to help promote the arts to residents and tourists.

Janet is a graduate of UCLA, has completed all course work for a Masters in Architectural Studies / UT, and is a Knight Fellow in Community Building / University of Miami 2005-2006.
