CIBOLO ART CAMP 2009 June 8 thru July 31
Summer Art Camp 2009
Cibolo Summer Art Camp represents one of the best investments you can make in your child's summer! During each of the week long sessions from June 8 through July 31, students will spend time outside learning to see the beauty of nature and develop artworks based on their discoveries.
Camp will be taught by Emily Berset, BISD art teacher from Kendall Elementary. Ms. Emily will encourage a comfortable, creative and fun environment for all students to develop new techniques and skills while learning to express themselves through art.
New things are an exciting discovery and children, ages 6-12, are natural explorers. Class size is limited to 12 for individual attention, and prior week's attendance is not required. On Fridays, family and friends are invited to view an exhibition of the artworks that were created throughout the week.
Monday thru Friday: 1:30-4:30 pm
Art Supplies are INCLUDED in the registration cost.

Session 1: June 8-12 Art Expedition
In this camp, we'll look at nature through the eyes of an artist. We'll explore colors, patterns, and textures in nature and use what we see, hear, and feel to inspire original artwork. Each day, the campers will examine the work of a different artist and create their own works using different media, natural materials and inspiration from the Cibolo Nature Center Trails.
Session 2: June 15-19 Eco-Imagination
This week, campers will use their imaginations to create Andy Goldsworthy inspired creations, using materials that are available in nature all around us. This camp is for children with active imaginations and will allow them to explore in a creative and non-traditional way, producing environmental sculpture. Kids will be encouraged to redefine their concept of what art is and how it is created.
Session 3: June 22-26 Impress Me!
The Impressionists taught us so much about color & light and feeling with paint. We'll learn from those who broke with tradition to paint their "impressions" of the world-and then break some traditions of our own! We'll use charcoal, watercolor and acrylic paint to create a series of landscapes. Campers will create art works during the week at different times of the day to imagine and paint just like the Impressionists did.
Session 4: July 6-10 Nature Art Journals
A journal is a place to work through our thoughts, desires and personal discoveries. Campers will create individual pages of at least three artworks using one medium of choice; either charcoal, acrylic paint or watercolor paint. Creative kids will fashion their own artist sketchbook and through the week will discover which media they enjoy most...and have the opportunity to jot down thoughts about their experiences and inspirations.
Session 5: July 13-17 Junk or Art?
Is it art or junk? Students will create their own junk art out of items they scrounge up and bring from home, learning to put used and found items together in a new way. Bottle caps, cardboard tubes, aluminum cans, scraps of wood, bits of string...you name it, you can use it to create an environmentally friendly eco-art masterpiece. Use your imagination to re-use, re-duce, re-cycle!
Session 6: July 20-24 Color Me Green
Is it easy being green? In this camp experience we will explore the native leaves in the Cibolo Park. Art mediums will include charcoal drawings, water color wax resist, as well as printmaking.
Session 7: July 27-31 Cool Blue Water Paintings
Summer is Hot! Hot! Hot! Cool down with some art instruction focusing on drawing, watercolor and acrylic painting while studying Cibolo landscapes featuring water... we'll use our creek and water pond for inspiration.
