ART & CONSERVATION: "Our Hidden Treasures"

HISTORY:

ART AND CONSERVATION: OUR HIDDEN TREASURES began in 2007 as a collaboration between the Cibolo Nature Center, Cibolo Arts Council, and Boerne Area Artists Association.

The purpose of ART AND CONSERVATION is to raise awareness and promote conservation of Texas Hill Country land, water, wildlife and native plants. Some of these treasures are hidden away on private property. Others are often overlooked as we pursue our busy lives.

ART AND CONSERVATION promotes works of art that focus on these local natural resources by giving artists special access to private land and encouraging work inspired by local public lands, such as, parks and along Texas backroads. 

There have been several changes since the last show. Boerne Area Artist Association has become Boerne Professional Artists. The Cibolo Arts Council has evolved into the Hill Country Council for the Arts, which encompasses a much larger geographic area.

ART AND CONSERVATION 2009- 2011

The call for entries will extend to the entire Texas Hill Country. Artists will be juried into the ART AND CONSERVATION SHOW, Spring, 2011 by submitting a digital image of an original artwork inspired by a public natural area in the Texas Hill Country.

Artists are urged to limit the inclusion of man-made construction, to look beyond the usual Texas Hill Country clichés, such as, deer and bluebonnets, and search out unique native plants, animals and physical features of this region. Those who are selected will then be in a lottery for private property assignments.

Deadline  for entry forms and fees is March 1, 2010.
